Les polémistes qui animent le débat entre mises en scène anciennes et modernes en seront pour leurs frais. Dans sa production d’Idoménée reprise au Palais Garnier, Luc Bondy dépasse ce clivage. Avec une belle économie de moyens, il exalte la puissance originelle de cette tragédie antique. L’un des moments forts de l’opéra est assurément la scène de la folie d’Electre, jouée et chantée avec passion par la soprano Mireille Delunsch. On retrouve également, dans le casting vocal, la mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato (Idamante), virtuose et sensuelle, et la sensible soprano Camilla Tilling (Ilia). Le rôle-titre sera pour sa part tenu par Paul Groves dont on attend avec impatience les vocalises de l’air « Fuor del Mar ». L’Orchestre de l’Opéra de Paris sera dirigé par Thomas Hengelbrock, qui sait parfaitement transposer la stylistique historique sur instruments modernes.
