Trois adolescents dénommés « oursons » avec un ours en peluche pour mascotte… Que symbolise pour vous cet animal ? Pourquoi appelez-vous « oursons » les protagonistes alors que, dans la pièce, rien ne laisse supposer qu’ils ne sont pas humains ?
Ignacio del Moral : Le texte de La Nuit de l’ours vient d’une œuvre brève, Oursons, que j’ai écrite pour un spectacle composé des pièces de trois auteurs et qui avait comme thème la ville de Madrid. L’écusson de cette ville, dans laquelle je vis depuis l’âge de trois ans et à laquelle je me sens très lié, représente un ours appuyé sur un arbre (un arbousier) dont il essaye d’atteindre les fruits. C’est pour cela que j’ai donné à ces trois fils de Madrid le nom d’oursons. Cela fait aussi allusion à leur gaucherie, à la corporalité, rappelant les mouvements de cet animal, qui éveille, malgré sa férocité, de la tendresse. L’ours en peluche a surgi comme une image paradoxale et absurde, mais il a révélé immédiatement son caractère métaphorique, comme image de l’enfance qui est derrière.
La pièce se fonde exclusivement sur le trio Enrique, Angel, Jaime. Qu’est-ce qui les unit ? Comment les caractérisez vous ?
I. d. M. : Ils sont unis évidemment par leur solitude, leur besoin de tendresse et leurs difficultés à s’exprimer. Ce sont trois personnages déshérités, unis par un certain besoin de protection mutuelle. Leurs origines sont différentes, et leur relation probablement occasionnelle, mais ils ont développé une dépendance réciproque qui crée des liens à cet âge.
La question de l’inceste est très présente dans La Nuit de l’ours. Jaime « bande » pour sa mère, Angel découvre sa sœur et son père dans le même lit. Pourquoi avoir intégré cet élément dans l’écriture dramatique ?
I. d. M. : Ces deux aspects de l’inceste ont des caractéristiques très différentes. Jaime est perturbé par la sexualité de sa mère : les enfants ont besoin de voir leur mère comme un être asexué, ils ne supportent pas l’idée qu’elle puisse avoir des relations sexuelles. Mais il n’est pas non plus surprenant que, lorsqu’ils découvrent que c’est une femme attirante, ils soient attirés par elle. Bien sûr, cela provoque un certain court-circuit mental. Jaime découvre que sa mère est aussi attirante pour ses amis, et cela provoque sa jalousie et sa colère. Le cas d’Angel est différent : après la mort de sa mère (on pourrait penser à un suicide, comme certains me l’ont suggéré) et un séjour chez sa grand-mère, quand il revient il pense que sa famille s’est recréée comme un lieu d’amour idyllique et de protection mutuelle. Découvrir la relation entre son père et sa sœur est évidemment un choc terrible, car il se sent en plus trahi et exclu. Un critique a dit que c’était une pièce moraliste et même puritaine. Je ne le crois pas. Le thème de l’inceste est un des derniers tabous qui restent dans notre société, et comme tel c’est toujours intéressant de l’explorer.
Agathe Alexis a souhaité incorporer de la danse à sa mise en scène. Quel est votre avis sur ce parti pris ? Trouvez-vous, comme la chorégraphe du spectacle Claire Richard, que l’adolescence soit une période où le mouvement précède la pensée ?
I. d. M. : Une fois que le texte est arrivé dans les mains d’un(e) metteur(e) en scène, je suppose qu’il l’aime suffisamment pour lui consacrer du temps, des efforts et du talent en mettant ce texte debout, ce dont je leur suis reconnaissant. Les décisions prises sont destinées à donner au texte la plus grande expressivité. D’emblée l’idée d’incorporer la danse me semble une option intéressante et qui peut donner au spectacle une nouvelle dimension. En tout cas ce sera une nouvelle façon de raconter l’histoire et cela, en principe, me paraît stimulant. Je ne sais pas si dans l’adolescence le mouvement précède la pensée – je ne l’ai jamais envisagée en ces termes. En tout cas je crois qu’à cet âge, entre le sentiment et l’action, il y a très peu de réflexion.
