Semble-t-il marquée à vie par une enfance et une jeunesse nomades, de Detroit (où elle voit le jour) à la jungle amazonienne en passant par la Barbade et la Jamaïque, Ilene Barnes laisse couler en elle tous les sons et vibrations du monde. Neuf ans après son premier album (Set you free), Ilene Barnes signe son quatrième disque « Here’s to you » (chez Discograph), poursuivant son chemin de géante métisse (1, 88 m et des origines familiales en forme de jeu de pistes !) regardant le monde qui l’entoure avec un mélange souverain de hauteur et de bienveillance, de noblesse et d’humanité, d’amour éperdu et de révolte face à l’injustice et la bêtise. Ce nouveau disque a été enregistré en toute spontanéité et vérité à la tête d’un groupe de scène en osmose qui connaît sa chanteuse sur le bout des doigts (et réciproquement), sans chichis ni tricheries, avec de vraies bonnes chansons… Un bonheur.
