Après une dizaine d’années de carrière, le contrebassiste et chanteur Imbert Imbert avait besoin de rebattre les cartes. « Après tant de concerts, j’avais un peu peur de rester cantonné dans mes habitudes ! En faisant appel à Fantazio pour remodeler tout ça, j’ai réappris à prendre des risques, à casser mes facilités. » Une nouveauté qui sonne comme une libération après l’enfermement lié à la pandémie. « Un an d’empêchement, ça a été long et traumatique. Après tout ça, j’aborde Avignon comme une aubaine artistique, un terrain de jeu de 25 dates, 25 possibilités d’explorer, créer, imaginer. »
Le jeu sincère de l’homme-orchestre
Car Imbert Imbert est certes en solo, mais a démultiplié sa palette : quelque part entre fraîcheur de la création et maturité artistique, il a repensé sa forme scénique, accolant à sa contrebasse une grosse caisse et une caisse claire qu’il joue aux pieds, s’éloignant du tour de chant pour une forme plus improvisée, plus libre. « Plutôt qu’enchaîner des chansons, je navigue sur un fil naturel : je joue, j’ose déclamer des poèmes, j’improvise à la voix et à la contrebasse. Et surtout je m’éclate. Je crois que c’est ça que je veux communiquer, la sincérité du jeu, avec ses failles et ses évolutions. »
