Jacques Osinski, associé au vidéaste Yann Chapotel, n’a pas son pareil pour faire vivre sur scène les personnalités multiples. Après le Lohengrin de Sciarrino avec l’acteur Johan Leysen à l’Athénée en 2015, puis la création du Cas Jekyll de François Paris avec le baryton Jean-Christophe Jacques au début de cette saison, il s’attaque aujourd’hui à Into the Little Hill, « conte lyrique » de George Benjamin né de sa rencontre avec le dramaturge Martin Crimp – rencontre fructueuse qui a depuis fait naître Written on Skin et Lessons in Love and Violence.
Deux voix et quinze musiciens
Dans ce conte enfantin et cruel, qui rejoue l’histoire du Joueur de flûte d’Hamelin à la lumière de l’histoire récente, seules deux voix de femme (ici les sopranos Camille Merckx et Élise Chauvin) tiennent tous les rôles : le narrateur, le peuple, le ministre, l’étranger, la femme, l’enfant. Elles sont portées par la musique subtilement ouvragée de George Benjamin, lumineuse partition pour quinze musiciens. Alphonse Cemin, bien connu en tant que pianiste de l’ensemble Le Balcon, est à la tête de l’ensemble Carabanchel. En ouverture, choix judicieux de Flight, pièce pour flûte de Benjamin qui annonce l’atmosphère de l’opéra.
