Il s’appelle Jonas Hassen Khemiri. Il est né à Stockholm, en 1978, d’une mère suédoise et d’un père tunisien. En deux romans (One Eye Red paru en 2003, Montecore paru en 2006), il s’est imposé comme l’une des figures montantes de la littérature suédoise. C’est la première pièce de ce jeune écrivain que le nouveau directeur du Théâtre de la Manufacture de Nancy, Michel Didym, présente aujourd’hui aux Amandiers de Nanterre, après l’avoir mise en espace à La Mousson d’été en 2007. Une pièce hétéroclite, éclatée, composée de sept scènes à travers lesquelles se déploient diverses situations faisant intervenir pas moins de quatorze personnages. Une pièce au cœur de laquelle réside une énigme, qui agira comme le fil directeur de la représentation : le mot Abulkasem. Nom, prénom, adjectif qualificatif, néologisme, expression polysémique… Ce terme empreint d’une charge symbolique et fantasmatique forte traverse Invasion ! de part en part, servant de support à une réflexion transversale sur les questions liées au rapport à l’étranger et à la différence, à l’immigration, à l’identité culturelle et au choc des cultures.
Un joyeux kaléidoscope théâtral
Se fixant pour objectif de « rendre compte de l’éclatement, forme dramaturgique et thème principal de la pièce », Michel Didym a réuni sur scène quatre comédiens (Quentin Baillot, Nicolas Chupin, Luc-Antoine Diquéro et Julie Pilod, en alternance avec Léna Bréban) et deux musiciens (Flavien Gaudon et Philippe Thibault) faisant preuve d’une très belle énergie. Ils apparaissent et disparaissent dans toutes sortes de costumes, composent une galerie de portraits cocasses, réellement pittoresques. Cette variation théâtrale — joyeuse, d’une grande vivacité — divertit mais éclaire de façon sans doute trop lointaine les questionnements sur le racisme ordinaire qui apparaissent en toile de fond. Car le texte de Jonas Hassen Khemiri, à trop vouloir traiter son sujet de façon distanciée, perd de sa force, de son acuité. Une scène, pourtant, échappe à cette réserve, scène au sein de laquelle une traductrice bafoue les propos d’un cueilleur de pommes immigré afin de le faire passer pour un dangereux extrémiste. Une scène à la fois drôle et frappante, qui parvient à conjuguer trouble, ironie et saisissement.
