« Dans mon travail, je m’attache particulièrement à la langue, aux écritures très particulières, très ponctuées, très rythmées, où l’auteur impose beaucoup de contraintes. Choisir Racine était donc assez évident, car l’alexandrin est le top de la contrainte ! Mettre en scène Iphigénie est un vieux rêve d’adolescente. C’est une pièce qui se déroule dans un contexte de guerre, de crise, où l’oracle dit au roi cette chose folle : « il faut sacrifier votre enfant. » Personne ne remet en cause cette parole qui place Agamemnon devant un choix impossible. Iphigénie est une princesse, formée depuis l’enfance à son rôle de souveraine. Son peuple passe avant elle, et elle est élevée dans une forme de conditionnement. C’est le personnage le plus fort de la pièce car c’est le seul qui ne doute pas. Sa mère, Clytemnestre, est dans l’affect de vouloir sauver son enfant, Achille est pris entre l’orgueil et l’amour, le roi est partagé entre son devoir de père et son devoir de chef. Elle, non seulement ne remet pas en cause le sacrifice pour sauver son pays, mais accède à la gloire qui est plus importante que la vie qui lui était promise. »
