Il est peu de dire que la dernière production de Krzysztof Warlikowski n’est pas passée inaperçue. Son Parsifal a scandalisé une partie de l’auditoire par son traitement contemporain froid et violent. Au-delà de quelques effets propres à effrayer le bourgeois (notamment dans l’emploi de la vidéo), les mises en scène de Warlikowski nous offrent une vision de l’humanité sans faux-semblant, glaciale mais juste. Son Iphigénie en Tauride, donnée pour la première fois en 2006, montre combien la tragédie inspirée d’Euripide possède des résonances totalement quotidiennes. La distribution 100 % française comprend Mireille Delunsch, dont le talent dramatique est indéniable, Stéphane Degout, Yann Beuron, Franck Ferrari et Salomé Haller. Dans la fosse, les instruments anciens du splendide Freiburger Barockorchester seront dirigés par le bien sage Ivor Bolton. Enfin, une bonne occasion de se réjouir : les approximatifs Chœurs de l’Opéra laissent la place aux membres d’Accentus, le chœur de Laurence Equilbey.
