J’aurais voulu être un escargot est le premier texte de l’autrice qui a inspiré Isabelle Fruleux. Née à Alger avant de choisir l’exil, Souad Labbize a écrit à partir de traumatismes. La narratrice, petite fille à l’aube de son adolescence pleine d’interrogations, questionne son corps, tantôt incompris, tantôt opprimé. La pièce prend alors des formes bien différentes, du récit introspectif au témoignage, à la poésie. Un voyage coloré débute, alors que la jeune narratrice, dépossédée de son corps, refuse d’utiliser le mot « violet » qui la ramène à l’épisode traumatisant du viol. Elle parlera donc de la couleur « pourpre ».
Un nuancier de couleurs pour parler du monde
Pour Isabelle Fruleux, le lien avec le roman d’Alice Walker La Couleur pourpre est évident. Le spectacle donne place à une réflexion sur le corps dans notre espace public, différent selon les pays, mais toujours ébranlé lorsqu’il s’agit d’un corps de femme. Le regard porté sur les traditions, les territoires et les frontières se heurte à une conscience féminine et citoyenne du monde. Et la constellation de couleurs qu’offre le terme « pourpre » se déploie sous la forme de chants, de récits et de musiques qu’Isabelle Fruleux et Kamilya Jubran dévoilent sur scène.
