« Dis Jacob, à quoi ça sert de faire sauter une pierre sur l’eau ? ». Posée par une voix off d’enfant au début de Jacob Jacob mis en scène par Dyssia Loubatière, la question résonne tout au long du spectacle. Écho du passé, elle dit la jeunesse trop tôt envolée du héros éponyme de Valérie Zenatti. Son grand-oncle, dont elle réinvente la mémoire à partir de ce qui lui reste. Presque rien. Une photo où quatre jeunes hommes posent fièrement devant une réplique du paquebot Normandie, à Alger. Et les souvenirs de sa grand-mère. Récompensé par plusieurs prix, ce roman adapté par Dyssia Loubatière en collaboration avec Didier Bezace redonne vie à un passé disparu.
Le jeune homme et la guerre
Dans une sobre scénographie – un simple petit pont de bois qui donne sur un couloir sombre – conçue par Simon Vallery, Florian Choquart est tantôt Jacob, tantôt le narrateur du récit. À ses côtés, Christiane Cohendy est une mère prête à tout pour retrouver son fils. Mobilisé à l’âge de 18 ans pour aller libérer la France, ce dernier y découvre la vie, l’amour, alors que la mort l’attend à peine quelques mois plus tard. Jacob Jacob est en cela une épopée tragique. Un récit douloureux qui éclaire une histoire familiale entre France et Algérie.
