Jacques Schwarz-Bart persiste et signe en poursuivant l’exploration viscérale et vitale, quasi proustienne aussi, des souvenirs musicaux de son enfance guadeloupéenne, fortement marquée aussi par la musique racine d’Haïti que sa mère chantait (l’écrivaine Simone Schwarz-Bart). « Les musiques « racines » d’Haïti sont essentiellement les musiques Vaudou. Elles sont souvent des prières aux différentes forces spirituelles, étant entendu que nous ne parlons pas des tours de sorcellerie qui n’ont pas plus à voir avec le vaudou que l’exorcisme avec la religion chrétienne. Ce sont donc des musiques « inspirées », qui génèrent un état de transe ou de méditation. Cela a habité mon imaginaire musical dès le berceau, et quand j’ai commencé à travailler sur le mélange du jazz et du Gwoka, j’ai tout de suite pensé à une suite impliquant la musique Racine » explique Jacques Schwarz-Bart. c’est ce projet qui mène aujourd’hui le saxophoniste dans un nouveau voyage aux sources, propice aussi aux inventions les plus modernes, à la tête d’un groupe associant d’imparables musiciens de jazz contemporain : Gregory Privat (piano), Stéphane Kerecki (Contrebasse), Arnaud Dolmen (Batterie), Tikaya Benjamin (Voix), Alex Tassel (Bugle) et Claude Saturne (Percussions).
