C’est en 2006 que Jacques Schwarz-Bart fait pour la première fois sensation avec une bombe musicale brassant jazz et sons traditionnels créoles. Depuis « Soné Ka-La » a fait le tour du monde, et le saxophoniste guadeloupéen a mené bien d’autres aventures, sous son nom avec une poignée d’albums essentiels, ou partenaire de leaders de choc tel par exemple Roy Hargrove, qui l’embarque comme membre fondateur de RH Factor. Quinze ans après ce premier « Sone Ka La », Jacques Schwarz-Bart revisite une nouvelle fois son terreau musical guadeloupéen pour s’engager dans une magnifique « Odyssey » où la voix de la marie-galantaise Malika Tirolien fusionne avec le chant du saxophone, pour mieux redonner au Gwoka souffle, âme et portée universelle. Avec Jacques Schwarz-Bart, le gwoka, langage musical historique qui permettaient aux hommes et femmes de différentes régions d’Afrique déracinés de « s’évader » de leurs conditions d’esclave et de communiquer entre eux, continue de résonner avec force. Avec Gregory Privat (piano), Arnaud Dolmen (batterie), Reggie Washington (basse) et Sonny Troupé (percussions).
