« Ce sont deux paroles solitaires qui se rencontrent. Je me suis aperçu que quelque chose d’étonnant et de bouleversant rapprochait le supplice du Christ et celui de Primo Lévi. Au plus fort de leur souffrance tous les deux disent “j’ai soif“, sans exprimer aucune haine envers leurs bourreaux. Je suis parti de l’oeuvre de Haydn, au départ écrite pour orchestre et chœur, puis pour quatuor, et enfin transcrite pour piano. J’avais d’abord créé le spectacle avec un piano, et je le reprends cette année dans sa version avec quatuor à cordes. C’est un spectacle total. J’aime beaucoup les œuvres métissées qui rapprochent divers matériaux, tels que texte, musique et peinture, souvent les trois éléments avec lesquels je travaille. J’avais besoin d’un univers pictural qu’a apporté Sylvie Kajman. Le corps, les images et la musique se répondent. Et pendant de longs moments de silence, c’est le corps qui parle. Ce spectacle universel touche profondément les spectateurs. »
