Vingt-six mètres de guindes, soit plus de quatre-vingt-dix kilos de corde noire, lient fermement sept interprètes entre eux. Ils symbolisent cet attachement – aux choses, aux autres, à nos désirs, à notre identité – qui empêche selon la philosophie bouddhiste notre éveil spirituel, nous embourbe dans des cycles de vies infinies. Ils sont sur scène la contrainte qui, comme très souvent chez Jann Gallois, va permettre la recherche d’un nouveau langage chorégraphique, la créativité.
De la pesanteur du Samsara à l’apesanteur du Nirvana
Dans un premier tableau, remarquable, les danseurs et danseuses agglutinés, liés serrés, se déplacent, s’étreignent, rient, robotiques, de plus en plus vite, comme hors d’eux-mêmes. Dans le dernier, d’une beauté rare, ils flottent, aériens, libérés de toute contrainte. Dans l’intervalle, ils auront connu la chute, auront tenté la tendresse, la découverte, toujours rattrapés par le groupe, qui tire les fils comme activant des marionnettes, joue de son contrepoids. À la fin de chaque cycle, ils auront été soulevés et suspendus, inertes. Bien qu’un brin trop didactique, Samsara montre, une fois encore, toute l’inventivité de Jann Gallois.
