Ambassadeur de la musique américaine, mais pas seulement, le pianiste Jay Gottlieb inaugure cette saison à l’Élysées Biarritz une très intelligente programmation dont le but avoué est de faire connaître, comprendre et surtout aimer le répertoire contemporain. Ce troisième concert de la saison donne une idée de l’éclectisme du musicien franco-américain : une œuvre de jeunesse d’Aaron Copland (Les Jeunes Pionniers), une pièce de Morton Feldman, trois de John Cage, une d’Earle Brown, mais aussi Pierre Boulez (Notations), Olivier Messiaen (Regards sur l’Enfant Jésus), György Ligeti ou encore Giacinto Scelsi, compositeur féru de méditations orientales et dont Jay Gottlieb est l’un des plus fins connaisseurs. Le 30 mai, lors d’un atelier-concert, le pianiste présentera, avec son humour et son sens de l’à-propos, les dix compositeurs qu’il interprètera le 20 juin.
