Le jazz a retrouvé toute sa place à Pigalle grâce à la réssurection de ce lieu historique, entièrement rénové, qui fut, dès son ouverture en 1870, le repaire des grands peintres Impressionnistes avant d’être fréquenté par des dizaines d’autres artistes importants dans les années 30. C’est là que, au 1er étage, comme aujourd’hui, le célèbre club de jazz Bricktop’s accueillit Mabel Mercer, Alberta Hunter, Irving Berlin, Django Reinhardt, Stéphane Grappelli, Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington ou Ethel Waters… Hemingway ou Scott Fitzgerald étaient souvent accoudés au bar et Cole Porter qui en avait fait son quartier général y écrivit "Love for sale", " Night & Day " ou "Miss Otis regrets" … À la fois bar et restaurant, La Nouvelle Athènes délivre une excellente programmation musicale soulignée par la présence sur scène d’un magnifique « 1/2 queue » Fazioli. À coup sûr, le meilleur piano disponible dans un club parisien… A l’affiche en octobre, le très beau trio du pianiste Serge Forté en résidence tous les vendredis soirs pour accompagner la sortie de son nouvel album « La Bohème » chez Ella Prod, mais aussi le duo brésilien percussion-guitare Luis Ribeiro & Luis Leite (les 3 et 4), le quartet du guitariste Jimi Drouillard avec Thierry Eliez au piano (les 6 et 18), la relecture jazz par le trio Mo Drums de classiques du rock et du heavy metal (le 10) avec Patrick Cabon au piano, la belle et grande chanteuse australienne Wendy Lee Taylor en quartet pour un Hommage à Cole Porter (le 11), le jazz manouche de Kahil Chahine (le 13), le blues du pianiste, chanteur et harmoniciste Pierre Sibille (le 20) puis de Luc Bertin (le 25), le magnifique feeling afro-brésilien du trio du guitariste et chanteur Michelangelo Pagnano (le 24) et enfin le groupe Amigos du quartet Jafet-Eliez-Drouillard-Agusto (le 27) et Al Sanders (le 28).
