Créé en 1985 par un facteur des Postes fou de jazz, épaulé à l’époque par son ami le saxophoniste Guy Lafitte, le festival Jazz à Ramatuelle est toujours là et son « facteur Swing » est devenu depuis Président de l’association… La musique s’épanouit ici dans deux sites magnifiques, le Théâtre de Verdure, au pied du village, pour les grands concerts de soirée, et un superbe champ d’oliviers pour la programmation Off et ses concerts gratuits. A signaler : la soirée d’ouverture et son casting trans-générationnel, réuni autour du saxophoniste Émile Parisien et de l’accordéoniste Vincent Peiriani, associés à Michel Portal, Bojan Z et au vocaliste suisse Andreas Schaerer (le 16). On retrouvera aussi les deux co-leaders pour la création de File Under Zawinul, hommage au héros de Weather Report, là encore entourés de deux glorieux aînés, percussionnistes de génie, anciens compagnons de route du claviériste : Paco Séry et Mino Cinelu (le 17). Immanquables aussi : le pianiste Fred Hersch, au sommet de son art, en trio avec ses inséparables John Hebert (contrebasse) et Eric Mc Pherson (batterie). Ou encore le chanteur Hugh Coltman dans son délectable répertoire du moment « Who’s Happy ».
