Dix ans déjà que ce festival marseillais célèbre dans les jardins du Palais Longchamp le jazz dans ce qui fonde l’une de ses originalités constitutives : sa relation poétique à l’autre. Entendez sa faculté à outrepasser les œillères des frontières. Comme dit le philosophe antillais Edouard Glissant : « Cette musique née d’une communauté mais aussi du phénomène de créolisation est immédiatement devenue valable pour tous ! » Gageons qu’une telle sentence guide les artistes. Outre les plus renommés (Roy Haynes, Manu Katché, Richard Bona, Biréli Lagrene…), deux d’entre eux illustrent pleinement cette vision « créolisée » à travers leurs parcours : le flûtiste Magic Malik et le trompettiste Ibrahim Maalouf, qui aiguisent chacun leur curiosité en pratiquant l’art et les manières des rencontres tous-terrains.
