Longtemps, le jazz en version japonaise se résumait pour l’essentiel à de pâles photocopies des originaux. Tel n’est plus le cas comme tend à le démontrer la programmation de ce rendez-vous parisien, qui a permis entre autres de découvrir l’étonnant Shibusa Shirazu. Cette nouvelle édition met l’accent sur le jazz au féminin, à travers trois figures bien connues aux antipodes. Tout d’abord la pianiste Junko Onishi dont le trio (avec le batteur
Eric McPherson !) revisitera le 25 février les standards. Plus surprenante, la violoniste Naoko Terai peut se targuer d’avoir joué avec quelques étalons du style (Hancock, Shorter…). Pour ce concert, elle invite d’ailleurs Richard Galliano, avec qui elle a déjà joué par le passé. Enfin, le 27, la chanteuse Kimiko Itoh pourra compter sur le soutien esthète de la pianiste Aki Takase, appréciée des amateurs, pour un programme entre classiques du jazz et improvisations sur des poèmes japonais.
