L’écrivain grec Dimitris Dimitriadis, auteur de Je meurs comme un pays, affirme que ce texte marque la fin d’une époque historique qui aurait commencé au début de la civilisation hellénique. Provoquée à la suite d’une commande en 1978, l’écriture date d’après la chute de la dictature des colonels. Il s’agit de rien moins que la mort d’un pays, d’une histoire, d’une civilisation – le pays, la Grèce non nommée, disparaît car c’est de toutes les patries dont il est question. L’écriture révèle l’“étoile morte“ sous laquelle nous vivons aujourd’hui sans voir la réalité. L’entretien des mensonges envers les peuples, les nationalités, les groupes ethniques, les collectivités, est désastreux. Dimitriadis préfère remplacer les tromperies par un irrespect qui violerait les limites dans l’effondrement des stéréotypes lénifiants. C’est la tragédienne Anne Alvaro, attentive à la violence de l’écriture de Je meurs comme un pays, qui porte sur le plateau cet extrait de littérature grecque contemporaine. Un bel engagement éthique, littéraire et scénique.
