Sans doute il y avait eu des gens. Ils avaient vécu là, longtemps. Le désordre du lieu dit cela. Vécu perdus, terrés dans la peur obscure, la fangeuse réalité d’un présent barbare, l’attente solitaire d’un espoir. Leur présence flotte encore, trahie par le crachotement d’un vieux poste, les souillures, le silence des coulées blanchâtres criées sur les murs noirs. Une femme, rouge, surgit. « CETTE ANNÉE-LÀ, aucune femme ne conçut d’enfant. Cela continua les années suivantes, au point qu’une génération s’écoula sans que vienne au monde une seule génération nouvelle. (…) ». Elle raconte le pays assiégé, les hordes, le pouvoir corrompu, les crimes obscènes, les bacchanales régimentaires, les bas-fonds des plaisirs, les reniements, la dévastation, la déliquescence morale. Le chaos. D’un souffle.
Un long cri tragique
Les mots tranchent à vif les visions d’apocalypse, frappent au cœur des douleurs, saccadent, parfois se brisent sur la crête de l’innommable. Révèlent impitoyablement la catastrophe, l’horreur d’une patrie anéantie dans la guerre civile, l’agonie d’une civilisation happée dans le gouffre de l’Histoire. Répondant à une commande faite en 1978, après la chute de la dictature des colonels, l’écrivain grec Dimitris Dimitriadis condense dans ce cauchemar visionnaire l’effroi d’un monde précipité dans le néant. Sa poésie, d’une beauté brutale, étreint en un élan violent, vital, la sauvagerie et la transcendance, la rage de vie et la frénésie de mort. « D’habitude, les textes décrivent, l’écriture révèle. Quelque chose qui n’est pas encore conscient, qui couve mais que personne n’a remarqué, quelque chose que la réalité nous dissimule pour nous empêcher de le reconnaître », dit l’auteur. Anne Dimitriadis, qui avait su donner voix aux Folles d’enfer de la Salpêtrière de Mâkhi Xenakis, signe une mise en scène subtile, sans pathos ni démonstration. Tout à la fois récitante, voix de l’auteur et femme, Anne Alvaro porte à même le corps cette langue farouche, vivante, qui épuise ses fureurs en un cri profond, tragique. Simplement. Simplement bouleversant.
