Fruit d’une commande de la comédienne Claude Perron, Je suis drôle ouvre sur le quotidien de Cathy Moulin, une actrice comique dont la carrière est en chute libre. Vivant à ses côtés, son fils de dix-sept ans fait face aux bizarreries et aux extravagances de cette mère au bord de la crise de nerfs. « L’humour, chez Fabrice Melquiot, est un révélateur des failles et des faiblesses, déclare le metteur en scène Paul Desveaux. Son texte est une comédie dotée d’un fort sens poétique. C’est dans cet écart que nous entrevoyons cette fragile humanité. La comédie reste un miroir fascinant des relations humaines ; le rire nous découvre toujours un peu plus. En un sens le rire nous montre. » C’est une femme proche du gouffre, que le rire révèle dans cette comédie grinçante de Fabrice Melquiot. Une femme aux paradoxes et à la dinguerie très touchants.
