Cela fait plus de trente ans que Jean-Claude Casadesus est à la tête de l’Orchestre National de Lille. Un mandat pharaonique digne d’un Karajan à Berlin ! Si aujourd’hui certains musiciens attendent impatiemment que la page se tourne, il ne faut pas oublier ce qu’a apporté Casadesus à cette phalange. Dans une région en pleine crise de désindustrialisation, il a toujours été animé d’un engagement social militant, n’hésitant pas à jouer dans les quartiers défavorisés ou même en prison. Par ailleurs, l’Orchestre participe régulièrement à des tournées prestigieuses, notamment dans les grandes salles françaises. A la Salle Pleyel, les Lillois vont ainsi jouer Wagner (Ouverture de Tannhäuser), Grieg (Concerto pour piano, avec l’exceptionnel Bruno Leonardo Gelber) et le tube de Moussorgski orchestré par Ravel (Tableaux d’une exposition).
