Le chef-d’?uvre de Poulenc n?est pas sans lien privilégié avec l’Orchestre de
Paris : son commanditaire, Charles Munch, qui en assura la création en 1961 à
Boston, fut en effet le premier directeur musical de la phalange parisienne.
L’?uvre représente l’une des dernières ?uvres religieuses du compositeur
français et se situe aux antipodes des climats très intenses et spirituels de
son Stabat Mater par exemple. « J’ai pensé en écrivant le Gloria
à ces fresques de Gozzoli où les anges tirent la langue, et aussi à ces graves
bénédictins que j’ai vu un jour jouer au football » écrivait Poulenc.
L’?uvre est défendue ici par Jean-Claude Casadesus, que l’on est heureux de
rencontrer à la tête d’une phalange permanente parisienne, la soprano Annick
Massis et le Ch?ur de l’Orchestre de Paris qui fête cette année son trentième
anniversaire. Au même programme, sans lien flagrant ni avec Poulenc, ni avec son
Gloria, Une nuit sur le mont chauve de Moussorgski et le
Concerto pour violon de Tchaïkovski, servi par une jeune violoniste
lettone : Baïba Skribe.
