OPERA EN VERSION DE CONCERT / ATELIER LYRIQUE DE TOURCOING
Une bande de marins et Christophe Colomb au cœur d’une pièce symphonique, voilà qui mérite de tenter l’aventure. Jean-Claude Malgoire, à la barre de sa Grande Écurie et la Chambre du Roy, relate le voyage du navigateur génois depuis Cadix jusqu’aux Amériques à travers l’œuvre d’un certain Félicien David. Grand voyageur, ce compositeur né en 1810 « voulut être inventeur, et il le fut », écrit Berlioz. En 1847, il donne naissance à un genre nouveau, l’ode-symphonie, une forme hybride à mi-chemin de l’oratorio et de l’opéra. Christophe Colomb ou la Découverte du Nouveau Monde dépeint quatre tableaux : le Départ, La Nuit des tropiques, La Révolte et le Nouveau Monde. L’orchestration colorée de cette partition envoûte les imaginations. Sur le pont, on croise une soprano, un ténor et un baryton mais aussi un récitant (ici Daniel Mesguich), quatrième voix indispensable à cette traversée. Le timonier Jean-Claude Malgoire dirige ce concert. En attendant de fêter ses cinquante ans, la Grande Écurie et la Chambre du Roy vous invite à partir à la conquête de ces terres trop rares en concert.
