« Si vous voulez vivre longtemps, vivez vieux. ». C’est souhaitons-le en se souvenant de cette imparable recommandation d’Erik Satie, bien qu’il ne figure pas à son programme, que Jean-François Zygel a imaginé cette œuvre si singulière. Dans ce Requiem imaginaire qu’il rêverait de faire entendre lors de ses obsèques, notre brillant musicien trublion prend un malin plaisir à composer une partition hybride empruntant tous azimuts à des compositeurs qu’il admire : György Ligeti (Lux aeterna), Mozart (Lacrimosa du Requiem), Bach (Komm, Jesu, komm), Purcell (Hear my prayer, o Lord), Poulenc (Stabat Mater Dolorosa) ou Fauré (In paradisium du Requiem), mais aussi en signant de sa propre plume un grand Kaddish en araméen. Le tout est confié sur scène au magnifique chœur Spirito de Nicole Corti qu’il accompagne au piano.
