RADIO-FRANCE / VIOLONCELLE ET ORCHESTRE SYMPHONIQUE
Jean-Guihen Queyras n’a pas attendu l’âge de la maturité pour rayonner comme l’une des grandes étoiles de son instrument. Dès 1992, avec l’enregistrement chez Deutsche Grammophon du Concerto de Ligeti sous la direction de Pierre Boulez – il était alors âgé de 25 ans -, ou quelques années plus tard dans d’impériaux Concertos de Haydn chez Harmonia Mundi, on comprit qu’aucun répertoire ne résisterait au brio hallucinant et à la musicalité miraculeuse du nouveau venu. On était alors frappé par la profondeur d’un si jeune musicien, autant peut-être qu’on l’est aujourd’hui par l’intacte fraîcheur d’un artiste venant de dépasser le cap de la cinquantaine.
Résidence parisienne
Queyras sera cette saison l’un des six artistes accueillis en résidence à Radio-France (avec entre autres Barbara Hannigan et Patricia Kopatchinskaja), ce qui nous vaudra de l’y retrouver à plusieurs reprises à l’affiche dans les mois à venir. Pour l’heure, il est l’invité de Orchestre National de France et de son tout nouveau directeur musical Cristian Măcelaru dans deux « tubes » du répertoire romantique, là où peut-être on l’attend le moins : le Concerto pour violoncelle de Saint-Saëns et les Variations rococo de Tchaïkovski. Roméo et Juliette du même Tchaïkovski et Le Tombeau de Couperin de Ravel et complètent le programme.
