On avait pu voir Jean Michel Bruyère en Avignon avec 7 fuites du paysage, Une défaite et Si potetis narrare, licet, cette dernière installation s’attachant déjà au mythe d’Actéon que l’artiste considère comme « la seule explication du monde ». Cette année, Jean-Michel Bruyère revient avec une œuvre présentée dès 2009 à Sydney qui mêle à nouveau l’archaïsme du mythe antique et la technologie la plus avancée. L’impressionnante installation dans laquelle pénètre le spectateur de la Dispersion du fils, baptisée l’AVIE pour Advanced Visualisation and Interaction Environment, a été conçue par Jeffrey Shaw, artiste multimédia australien, grand spécialiste du cinéma numérique interactif. Muni de ses lunettes stéréoscopiques, le spectateur se retrouve immergé dans une forme longiligne et évidée aux parois d’apparence lisse, qui lorsqu’on s’en rapproche se décomposent en une multitude d’images flottantes, fragments vidéos d’œuvres produites par LFK (groupe d’intellectuels et artistes de différentes nationalités fondé par Jean Michel Bruyère). Traversé et noyé par ce flux aérien d’images en perpétuelles transformations, le spectateur traverse les boyaux d’une chienne de la meute d’Actéon, ce mythe ovidien qui figure une animalité cynique.
Un retour vers les origines
Jeune chasseur qui a le malheur de découvrir Diane nue au bain, Actéon se retrouve transformé en cerf, poursuivi par ses propres chiens qui le déchiquètent et dispersent les morceaux de sa dépouille à travers la forêt. Mais cette quête hargneuse aux allures de vengeance, Jean Michel Bruyère la transforme en une course effrénée du désir. Revenant aux origines cosmogoniques de la création de la constellation du Grand Chien où brille Sirius, il fabrique une fournaise qui voit les chiens d’Actéon inconsciemment dévorer le corps de ce maître qu’ils traquent par amour. Dans les boyaux de ces chiens errants qui portent le disparu court donc la mémoire d’Actéon, ingérée, digérée, sur le point d’être expulsée en autant de déjections brûlantes qui projettent aux pieds des arbres et dans les buissons la substance ignée de l’être dévoré. Un film panoramique 360° créé en partenariat avec l’Université de New South Wales (Sydney) et le Centre de Recherche de Cinema Immersif et interactif iCINEMA Centre, délimite ainsi « un retour vers les origines par un chemin jamais emprunté ».
