Un projet un fou comme les aime Laurent Petitgirard (qui vient de racheter une salle de concerts pour l’Orchestre Colonne !), fidèle complice musical de Jean-Philippe Collard… A son invitation, le grand pianiste français, partenaire de jeu au fil de 40 ans de carrière des plus grands (de Vladimir Horowitz à Lorin Maazel), se lance dans un cycle de concerts « autour de la Sonate en si mineur » de Liszt. Une œuvre saisissante et magistrale rayonnant au coeur du répertoire romantique (l’enregistrement réalisé par Collard en 1991 est réédité par EMI) et autour de laquelle le pianiste n’en finira pas de tourner au cours de cette série de 21 récitals. « Véritable voyage dans l’espace musical, de forme unique et d’inspiration multiple, elle est tout à la fois le joyau et le défi de l’instrument-piano » confie Collard. Chaque soir, il associera au chef-d’œuvre de Liszt « toute la musique qu’il aime ». Son répertoire très large ne manquant pas de ressources, de Bach à Messiaen, la fête devrait être complète !
