« J’ai écrit, jusqu’à ma retraite, des billets d’humeur pour une rubrique de L’Humanité intitulée Regard en coulisse. Durant toutes ces années, j’ai beaucoup aimé pratiquer cet exercice très particulier et je trouve d’ailleurs vraiment dommage que cette rubrique n’ait pas été reprise par un autre journaliste après mon départ. Ecrire des billets d’humeur, c’est se confronter à l’épreuve du verbe au jour le jour : parfois dans l’aisance de la fulgurance, parfois après plusieurs heures de recherches et de tâtonnements. Ce genre en voie de quasi-disparition permet un champ d’investigation très large : un champ qui peut aller de l’anecdote farcesque et même parfois salace, à une vision plus profonde, du grave à l’aigu, en passant par le frivole. Le billettiste doit scruter l’actualité au quotidien, lire les journaux, regarder la télévision, et inévitablement il tombe, à un moment ou un autre, sur quelque chose qui fait mouche, sur une scène ou une information dont il peut se servir pour porter un regard libre et personnel sur son temps.
Une dimension très populaire
Pour leur spectacle, Luciano Travaglino, Félicie Fabre et Patrick Dray ont choisi de procéder à la lecture de quelques-uns de mes billets par tirage au sort. C’est une très bonne idée de théâtre, qui offre l’avantage de donner une couleur unique et particulière à chaque représentation. Certains soirs, le hasard veut que le ton des chroniques tirées par les spectateurs soit plus sérieux, d’autres soirs, qu’il soit au contraire plus léger. Les aspects farcesques et bon enfant du spectacle font le reste, et réussissent à faire dériver mes textes – qui sont, au départ, des écrits de veine plutôt classique, de l’ordre de pamphlets littéraires – vers une dimension très accessible, très populaire, ce qui n’est pas pour me déplaire. Et puis, je dois dire que je suis évidemment très honoré que les membres du Théâtre de la Girandole aient souhaité que mes textes côtoient, à travers ce spectacle, des textes de Dario Fo ! »
