Le groupe que composent Nicolas Mahieux (contrebasse) et Charles Duytschaever (batterie) autour de Jérémie Ternoy existe depuis 8 ans. Bien repéré au niveau national, soutenu par l’Afijma à travers l’opération Jazz Migration, le groupe vient de signer son deuxième album, témoignant d’un engagement sur la durée qui force l’admiration… « Je ne peux effectivement pas envisager ce travail autrement que sur le long terme. Musicalement, j’ai besoin de temps, pour travailler, pour écrire et pour réfléchir à ce que je fais. J’équilibre ce travail sur la durée avec une approche dans l’urgence. La « responsabilité » est égale entre nous trois, même si j’écris le répertoire, Nicolas et Charles sont obligés de s’en emparer pour qu’on ait une chance pour que cela sonne pleinement » explique Jérémie Ternoy. Notez au passage que l’Afijma propose les 15 et 16 mai au Tarmac de La Villette un colloque sur le thème : « Jazz et musiques improvisées : quels enjeux aujourd’hui ? » (plus d’infos sur www.afijma.asso.fr).
