C’est en s’installant à La Réunion, la terre de ses racines paternelles, que celui qui venait de boucler des études de musicologie à Paris VIII s’est reconnecté avec le maloya, la bande-son de ce territoire à part. Depuis, il a développé un son aux bordures, où la technosphère qui fut sa première matrice se mixe à ses origines. Mais loin de réaliser un simple electro maloya, Jérémy Labelle produit au fil des disques et créations une bande-son qui interroge la question des identités à l’aune de la créolisation. C’est encore le cas avec NOIR ANIMA, son cinquième album dont on honore la sortie ce soir, où il entend valoriser « la partie féminine de la psyché humaine », symbolisée par le terme ANIMA. Lui cite sa mère, qui l’a initié à la musique électronique, et celle à qui il doit son patronyme, une esclave fraichement libérée. Quant à NOIR, c’est une référence au chat noir qui rôde dans sa psyché, depuis ses jeunes années. « Pour moi, cela représente le type d’énergie qui m’habite lorsque j’associe musique électronique et musique traditionnelle. » Une énergie qui invite autant à panser le monde qu’à danser.
