Musée du Louvre / Jérôme Bel / Estelle Zhong Mengal
Jérôme Bel s’associe à Estelle Zhong Mengal, historienne de l’art et titulaire de la chaire Habiter le paysage pour sa création : Danses non humaines. Ce spectacle déambulatoire dans les galeries du Musée du Louvre fait appel à des extraits de nombreuses chorégraphies comme Nelken (1982) de Pina Bausch, Water Study (vers 1900) d’Isadora Duncan, la fameuse Danse serpentine (1892) de Loïe Fuller et, plus près de nous, The Lions’ vocabulary de Xavier Le Roy (2011) ou The Siberian crane extrait de Extinction room (Hopeless) (2019) de Sergiu Matis – entre autres. Il s’agit alors d’identifier les différentes stratégies qu’empruntent ceux-ci pour faire advenir une « organicité non anthropocentrée ». Mis en résonance avec la crise écologique que nous traversons, le spectacle entend faire un « geste de décentrement vers le non-humain ». Cette « exposition de danse » permet aussi au spectateur de visiter le musée et de re-découvrir certains de ses chefs-d’œuvre, comme « emblèmes de la culture par opposition à la nature ».
