« Les gens qui me disent “ah mais moi je ne sais pas danser”, ça m’intéresse beaucoup… » Jérôme Bel, à l’issue d’un travail avec des amateurs – au sens, à la fois, de ceux qui aiment et de non-professionnels – en Seine-Saint-Denis, a cherché à inventer une forme scénique qui permette à tous de s’y intégrer. Il y est parvenu en revisitant le « gala », ce moment festif qui renvoie aux spectacles de fin d’année. Mais le but ici est de déjouer les normes de la monstration, pour évacuer toute notion de jugement : si la danse est fragile, elle n’en révèle que plus intensément le rapport au corps de celui qui la livre – ainsi que son engagement, car s’exposer sur scène n’est jamais anodin. Et pour ne pas réduire l’expérience à un projet social, le chorégraphe a mêlé professionnels et amateurs : c’est bien un espace commun qu’il s’agit de créer, pour donner sur ce plateau la place centrale à tous les « savoirs dansés », par-delà les assignations professionnelles et identitaires.
