Le Théâtre 95 dédie sa programmation aux écritures contemporaines. Pourquoi Musset ?
Joël Dragutin : Chaque année nous montons un classique que nous appelons « contemporain de son temps ». Musset reste notre contemporain, autant par la pertinence de sa langue que par son appartenance à ce mouvement rebelle qu’a été le romantisme. De plus, le thème de l’amour, central dans son œuvre, rejoint les préoccupations de la jeunesse actuelle pour laquelle l’amour continue d’être un facteur fondateur d’identité important. Confrontés à la rupture amoureuse de leurs enfants, les adultes ont tendance à leur dire que ce n’est pas grave et que d’autres choses, comme le bac, par exemple, sont plus importantes ! Mais ce n’est pas vrai ! Il y a quelque chose de structurant et d’identitaire dans les premières relations amoureuses et le titre de la pièce de Musset dit vrai : on ne badine pas avec l’amour ! Le suicide est la première cause de mort chez les jeunes et 80% de ces suicides sont liés à des ruptures affectives. Les jeunes n’ont pas l’expérience de la répétition et la distance qui permettent aux adultes de relativiser la chose amoureuse.
Quel cadre avez-vous imaginé pour votre mise en scène ?
J. D. : J’ai imaginé un groupe de très jeunes gens dans un squat urbain, un garage où on répare des bagnoles et où ils se retrouvent pour faire de la musique. Ils trouvent le texte de Musset et décident de le jouer. Il ne s’agit pas là d’un texte rajouté à celui de Musset mais d’un présupposé de mise en scène. Il y a de temps en temps des effractions en forme de commentaires mais tout cela reste très léger. Tous seuls, sans perspective de représentation, sans public, ils s’amusent à jouer le texte pour eux en se répartissant les rôles. Ils jouent la pièce avec leur enthousiasme dans ce lieu improbable. Ce qui m’a amusé dans ce travail, c’est de mettre en évidence le plaisir, l’appétit de jouer.

S’agit-il de mettre en évidence les vertus pédagogiques du théâtre ?
J. D. : Pas du tout ! Il n’y a pas de dimension pédagogique dans ce spectacle qui n’assène aucune leçon. J’ai voulu rendre un hommage utopique au théâtre en considérant que sa seule vertu c’est le plaisir du jeu, le plaisir de la catharsis, le plaisir d’incarner quelqu’un qu’on n’est pas, de vivre des sentiments qu’on n’éprouve pas. Il n’y a là aucune morale sous aucune forme, aucun souci pédagogique, aucune allusion à la vie personnelle des comédiens. Il y a le plaisir de jouer et rien d’autre ! Cette jubilation entraîne une grande énergie et une grande tonicité du spectacle. Les jeunes acteurs s’emparent de la pièce de manière tonique et drôle.
Comment avez-vous choisi vos comédiens ?
J. D. : Ils font partie du JTN. Ils sortent du Conservatoire de Paris, de l’Ecole du TNS, de l’Ecole de Chaillot. Auditions, rencontres et stages ont permis d’en choisir huit sur des critères de qualité de jeu et d’adhésion au projet. Je voulais des comédiens qui aient cette capacité à porter l’enthousiasme et à exprimer quelque chose qui soit de l’ordre de la pulsion. C’est pourquoi j’ai essayé de ne pas encombrer le texte de lectures codées ou savantes. J’ai beaucoup travaillé avec les comédiens au plus près de leurs envies et de leurs désirs afin qu’ils s’approprient le texte come s’ils le vivaient à leur niveau.
