OPÉRA NATIONAL DE MONTPELLIER
Le Journal d’un disparu est de ces œuvres à la marge, ni vraiment opéra ni seulement cycle de mélodies, qui appellent la mise en scène mais demandent pour cela une grande force d’imagination. Ivo van Hove insuffle un véritable génie dramatique à cette musique de réminiscences – que viennent compléter cinq mélodies d’Annelies Van Parys (née en 1975). Il y parvient en investissant les silences de l’œuvre, en captant tout ce qu’il y a de théâtral dans la musique, dans les intonations même des mélodies de Janacek et les interludes. Sa mise en scène donne matière au rêve éveillé de ces poèmes souvent prosaïques : sur scène cohabitent le vieil homme et son double, le jeune amant de la tzigane Zefka (la mezzo Marie Hamard, magnifique), et l’insaisissable image de cet amour passé.
