Émotion et retenue, le spectacle Journal d’une autre foisonne d’informations et de détails concrets qui en disent long sur les agissements zélés des politiques à une époque précise (1938-1962) de crimes, soupçons et délations. Staline, Jdanov et consorts, exécutants d’une Terreur institutionnalisée, font de leurs concitoyens, intellectuels ou non, dissidents ou non, des Ennemis du Peuple. Les dossiers d’hommes exterminés à réhabiliter se compteront par dizaine de millions. La vie quotidienne que relate le journal de Lydia Tchoukovskaïa sur ses visites à Anna Akhmatova dévoile à grands pans l’horreur tragique des purges. La jeune Lydia, fille de l’écrivain Tchoukovski, est allée chez son aînée pour « affaires » car son mari a été arrêté lors d’une perquisition; Lydia ne le reverra plus. Quant à Akhmatova, son troisième mari est mort en déportation et son fils est prisonnier en Sibérie. Dans le désespoir, Akhmatova écrit et se bat. Le public monte dans son appartement de Leningrad – la salle bleue du premier étage du Paris-Villette, plancher de bois et murs nus, cheminées d’époque et vaste miroir, table jonchée de livres, deux ou trois chaises et un projecteur, il n’en faut pas plus pour faire de ce spectacle un moment rare de théâtre. C’est que les deux interlocutrices sont des opposantes de l’intérieur.
Leur beau visage méditatif s’abandonne à des lumières artistiques éloquentes
En 46, Anna est exclue de l’Union des Écrivains, accusée de pessimisme et de détresse nuisible à la jeunesse. Ses œuvres censurées circulent sous le manteau et Lydia apprend par cœur les poèmes de son amie qui les brûle aussitôt. Lydia admire Tchékhov qu’Akhmatova ne supporte pas – comme Stanislavski ; mais la femme de lettres porte estime à Pasternak, Mendelstam, Maiakovski, Pouchkine. Le poète travaille avec un matériau terrible, le mot, comparable aux obus qu’on attrape au vol :« Non, ce n’est pas moi, c’est quelqu’un d’autre qui souffre, et ce qui s’est passé, que des draps noirs le recouvrent… » On ne peut faire que ces noires années n’aient existé, des jours atroces mais des jours de vie avec séparations et retrouvailles. Sur le plateau, Isabelle Lafon est la Dame Noire Akhmatova tandis que la comédienne Johanna Korthals Altes est la sensible Lydia. L’un clair l’autre sombre, leur beau visage méditatif s’abandonne à des lumières artistiques éloquentes, dignes de Rembrandt . Elles diffusent la qualité d’une existence quotidienne traquée dans un appartement communautaire, une réalité piètre sublimée par l’amour des mots.
