ATHÉNÉE / VOIX ET PIANO
Pour Judith Chemla, la musique s’exalte dans le théâtre et le théâtre se révèle par la musique. Actrice et chanteuse, profondément musicienne et intensément porteuse de texte, elle aborde l’opéra depuis quelques années auprès de figures de la mise en scène qui partagent, eux aussi, cette ambition de rendre l’irruption du chant sur scène naturelle, évidente, quitte à prendre avec l’œuvre la liberté de l’invention. Samuel Achache et Jeanne Candel (Le Crocodile trompeur, d’après Didon et Énée de Purcell), Benjamin Lazar (Traviata, vous méritez un avenir meilleur, un Verdi devenu intimiste) ou, tout récemment, Richard Brunel pour Mélisande (d’après Debussy). L’art du récital peut aussi, pour peu qu’on le débarrasse d’un formalisme inutile, devenir pur théâtre lyrique. C’est une telle démonstration que l’incandescente Judith Chemla propose avec le pianiste Alphonse Cemin autour des mélodies de Debussy et Poulenc.
