Herman Diephuis est un danseur hollandais qui a traversé la danse contemporaine française depuis les années quatre-vingts auprès des plus grandes compagnies (Chopinot, Monnier, Decouflé, Verret…). 2004 sonne la création de sa première pièce en tant que chorégraphe au sein de sa propre compagnie : D’après J.–C. puisait pleinement et sans complexe dans l’imagerie religieuse au travers l’inspiration des tableaux de la Renaissance. Aujourd’hui, Julie, entre autres aborde un autre versant de l’imaginaire collectif en convoquant La Mélodie du bonheur, film hollywoodien de Robert Wise. Cette œuvre, sujette à de nombreuses adaptations sur le plan musical, est réinterrogée à l’aune de son histoire par six danseurs qui, tour à tour, s’approprient le personnage de Maria, interprété à l’origine par Julie Andrews. En confrontant ces présences, Herman Diephuis s’appuie sur les transformations, les époques, et les glissements de sens d’une adaptation à l’autre.
