Avec la complicité de Paolo Olmi placé à la tête de l’Orchestre National Bordeaux Aquitaine, June Anderson ouvre à Pleyel la nouvelle saison des « Grandes Voix ». Née à Boston, elle commence à prendre des cours de chant à l’âge de 11 ans et devient la plus jeune finaliste des Auditions nationales du Metropolitan Opera de New York à 17 ans. C’est en 1978 qu’elle fait ses débuts sur scène dans le rôle de la Reine de la Nuit de La Flûte Enchantée de Mozart au New York City Opera. C’est ce même rôle et son air célèbre qui la feront découvrir quelques années plus tard du grand public dans le film Amadeus de Milos Forman. La carrière de June Anderson est immense, marquée par des collaborations avec tous les plus grands chefs, de Leonard Bernstein à Riccardo Muti, du Met’ à l’Opéra de Rome où elle fit ses débuts en Europe en 1982, dans le rôle-titre de Semiramide. Ses aigus lumineux ont fait d’elle, comme ce soir, une interprète irrésistible du répertoire italien. Ne fut-elle pas la première chanteuse non italienne à remporter le prix Bellini d’Oro ?
