La quatrième édition du festival June Events, conçu par l’Atelier de Paris-Carolyn Carlson, avec 20 compagnies et 34 représentations, assoit sa place singulière dans le paysage chorégraphique, avec l’invitation de compagnies internationales (dix pays représentés), quatre créations (Carolyn Carlson, Johanne Saunier, Rosalind Crisp, Eva Vandest), et une attention particulière aux jeunes artistes, dont plusieurs sont régulièrement soutenus par l’Atelier de Paris. Saluons l’idée des « premières parties », qui permettent à de jeunes talents de présenter leur travail avant le spectacle d’un chorégraphe reconnu. Le programme 2010 met à l’honneur la compositrice, chanteuse, scénariste, actrice, danseuse, chorégraphe et réalisatrice Meredith Monk. Tout au long du festival, les innombrables facettes de son travail sont interrogées. Les 1er et 2 juin, elle reprend son solo Girlchild revisited, initialement créé en 1972 : une performance vocale et physique devenue légendaire. Le 7 juin, elle reçoit une carte blanche à la Galerie du Jeu de Paume. L’artiste anime en outre une masterclass, dont l’aboutissement est ouvert au public, le 12 juin à 15H.
L’Atelier de Paris fête ses dix ans
Enfin, l’Atelier de Paris fête ses dix ans. Pour fêter cet anniversaire, une « Dance night » est prévue le 5 juin : l’occasion de faire danser le public, et de mettre à l’honneur les artistes associés à l’Atelier de Paris. Plusieurs spectacles se déroulent tout au long de la soirée, dans différents lieux de la Cartoucherie : la création de l’improvisatrice Rosalind Crisp, des aperçus du travail de Kaori Ito, Jesus Sevari et La Macana, Scène d’amour (uncut) de Juha Marsalo et deux représentations des Lecteurs, « chorégraphie collective » de David Rolland, qui invite chaque spectateur à entrer dans la danse à l’aide d’une partition écrite… La fête continue avec une soirée « DJ et VJ » menée par Véronique Hubert, à partir de 23H30 au Théâtre du Chaudron.
