Au sein de sa propre compagnie NDE, Nicanor de Elia creuse un langage où la danse vient se glisser dans tous les interstices de la manipulation des objets. Très fidèle aux principes du jonglage, jusque dans le respect des accessoires – balles, massues, anneaux – il conjugue son abstraction avec un sens de l’espace et des interactions. Pour Juventud, il invite cinq jongleurs dans un environnement visuel et lumineux en noir et blanc. S’ensuivent des solos, des duos, des trios, où les multiples jeux entre les corps se combinent à une appropriation totale de l’objet, jusque dans sa manière de le tordre et lui faire prendre, parfois, une autre vie, une autre façon de bouger.
La liberté du mouvement dans l’ambigüité de la perfection
Nicanor de Elia fait évoluer Juventud vers une déferlante chorégraphiée comme une boucle implacable. Un parti-pris qui ne laisse pas de place aux hésitations, où chaque mouvement en entraine un autre, où la circulation de l’énergie est reine, où la virtuosité est mise à rude épreuve. Dans cette répétition, le regard du spectateur devient presque ivre de se promener d’un corps à l’autre, d’un lancer à un rattraper, ou entre deux diagonales. Et le groupe se forge solidement dans le plaisir de cette expérience éprouvante mais partagée, entre ordre et débordement.
