« Personne ne chante de manière aussi pure que ceux qui se trouvent dans le plus profond des enfers ; ce que nous prenons pour le chant des anges, c’est leur chant à eux. » écrivait Kafka à Milena, l’amour de sa vie. C’est ce chant là, sublime et tourmenté, que György Kurtág extrait des entrailles de l’écriture de Kafka. Puisant quarante fragments parmi le Journal et la Correspondance de l‘écrivain, le compositeur hongrois a cherché entre les lignes, dans la déchirure des mots, s’est glissé au creux des silences pour y révéler d’infinis microcosmes. Ecrite en 1985, cette partition très figurative enlace voix soprano et violon, qui sans cesse se chahutent, se heurtent et se joignent pourtant. Antoine Gindt, metteur en scène et directeur de T&M, explore l’étrange théâtralité de cette œuvre intimiste, proche de la confession, initialement destinée au concert. Entourées d’un chœur muet de huit figures fantasmatiques hantant ce rêve kafkaïen, Salome Kammer, soprano, et Carolin Widmann, violon, libèrent toutes les nuances de cette histoire fragmentée, indécise, qui cherche irrémédiablement à advenir.
