Il y a une belle et grande tradition du clown en Russie, dont Karandach fut l’une des grandes figures, suivi de près par Oleg Popov, ou Slava Polounine. Celui-ci n’en finit plus de tourner son célèbre Snow show sur les scènes internationales, quand ce n’est pas la Famille Semianyki qui prend le relais. Cyril Griot, directeur artistique de la compagnie Le Bateau de Papier, est passionné par cette histoire-là. Son spectacle est fait d’allers-retours entre la France et la Russie, et prend sa source dans la rencontre avec les clowns du Mir Liz Théâtre de Moscou. De cet échange est née Kanikuly, pièce de théâtre clownesque qui reprend à son compte le moment tant attendu, et que chacun connaît, du départ imminent en vacances. C’est sans compter les personnalités décalées de ces trois clowns, rattrapés par un désir de farniente tellement impérieux, qu’ils en oublient la réalité. Ils construisent leur propres rêves, à coup de situations hautement absurdes, décalées, dont l’ironie voire l’humour noir sont les maîtres-mots.
