Discret et presque à l’écart, Karim Kacel n’a pas disparu pour autant ! Il poursuit aujourd’hui son parcours avec un hommage à son idole de toujours : Serge Reggiani. Entré sur la scène de la chanson française au début des années 80 (Printemps de Bourges, Théâtre de la Ville, etc…), nourri de l’art de quelques autres grands maîtres nommés Brel, Brassens ou Ferré, Karim Kacel fut l’un des tout premiers artistes populaires issus de la « Banlieue » (titre de son premier 45 tours), emblématique d’une France multi-culturelle alors totalement absente des médias et des scènes de spectacles. « Serge Reggiani, c’est l’idole, le chanteur que je vénère depuis l’âge de 16 ans, et on ne peut l’aborder qu’avec humilité et modestie. A plusieurs reprises, en réfléchissant au projet, je me suis dit que j’étais fou, que je ne pouvais par faire cela. Mais je me suis finalement mis au travail… Ce projet est pour moi un immense défi, à la mesure de l’amour et de l’admiration que je porte à l’œuvre de Serge Reggiani » confie-t-il. Avec Angelo Zurzelo au piano et Tony Ballester à la contrebassse.
