ORCHESTRE SYMPHONIQUE, LYRIQUE / BASILIQUE
Lauréate en 2016 du Sir Georg Solti Conducting Award en 2016, Karine Canellakis vient pour la première fois au Festival de Saint-Denis diriger l’Orchestre national de France, un habitué de la Basilique, dans un programme aux tonalités entièrement germaniques. Entre la solennité de la marche augurale et la sensualité chatoyante de la bacchanale, l’Ouverture de Tannhäuser de Wagner qui ouvrira la soirée met à l’épreuve autant le sens de l’architecture formelle que la richesse expressive des timbres. Dans la mélancolie crépusculaire des Quatre derniers lieder, Richard Strauss rend un hommage bouleversant à la voix de soprano qu’il aimait tant et pour laquelle il a écrit ses plus belles pages. Camilla Nylund, straussienne célébrée sur les plus grandes scènes, s’en fera la prêtresse. Le concert se refermera sur les mordorures automnales de la Symphonie n°4 en mi mineur de Brahms, dont le dernier mouvement, en forme de passacaille, constitue l’un des sommets du corpus symphonique du compositeur – et du répertoire tout court.
