Quelle est la spécificité du festival “Nuits théâtrales au Palais de Béhague“ ?
Katia Danila : Les “Nuits théâtrales au Palais de Béhague“ présentent la nouvelle vague du théâtre roumain, que ce soit par ses jeunes dramaturges, acteurs ou metteurs en scène… Nous nous sommes dirigés surtout vers la scène du théâtre alternatif, “underground” et vers les nouvelles formes, principalement le théâtre minimaliste. En Roumanie, les théâtres subventionnés par l’état représentent la partie majoritaire des productions théâtrales, mais depuis plus d’une dizaine d’années nous assistons à une importante émergence de compagnies de théâtre indépendantes, miroir d’une nouvelle dramaturgie. C’est ce phénomène-là, bouillonnant, que nous voulons présenter à travers ce festival. Le fait que cela se déroule dans la Salle Byzantine du Palais de Béhague, lieu destiné dès sa naissance en 1900 aux arts du spectacle et où Adolphe Appia a réalisé, en 1903, sa première mise en scène, inscrit cette manifestation dans une belle tradition.
Qui sont les artistes programmés ?
K. D. : Alexandra Badea est metteur en scène, scénographe et auteur. Née en 1980 en Roumanie, elle vit à Paris depuis 2003. Son écriture est engagée, militante, non ordonnée et provocatrice. Peter Kerek est réalisateur de film et metteur en scène. Dans sa pièce 9 degrés à Paris, il réalise une mise en scène originale, portée à la fois par le film et le jeu théâtral. Alina Serban, jeune actrice Rom, signe un texte – dont elle est aussi l’interprète – nourri de ses expériences de vie. Le metteur en scène Bobi Pricop et les acteurs de la pièce Jeux dans la cour arrière représentent la toute jeune génération. Leur spectacle raconte à la fois l’histoire dramatique des jeux de séduction entre cinq adolescents, et du rapport de pouvoir entre jeunes et adultes. Pour La Tempête, Victor Ioan Frunză, l’un de nos plus importants metteurs en scène, crée une mise en scène réjouissante, pleine de fraîcheur et qui nous tient en haleine, dans laquelle quatre jeunes comédiens jouent toutes les partitions. A écouter aussi une lecture de Après-demain (nouvelles du futur) de Gianina Carbunariu.
Comment caractérisez-vous la nouvelle vague du théâtre roumain ?
K. D. : Aujourd’hui, le théâtre roumain s’exprime sur trois « scènes » : les théâtres d’état qui se donnent les moyens des créations classiques ; les théâtres indépendants tant à Bucarest qu’en province ; et les festivals de Sibiu, Bucarest, Craiova, Cluj, etc., qui sont de belles vitrines de la création roumaine et un moyen d’ouverture vers l’étranger. La nouvelle vague, les jeunes auteurs et metteurs en scène ont trouvé leur lieu d’expression essentiellement dans les théâtres underground. Cette nouvelle vague est contestataire, controversée, courageuse, militante. Les artistes se réunissent souvent autour de structures communes, telle DramAcum, par exemple, véritable laboratoire de nouvelles écritures, initié par un groupe de jeunes metteurs en scène et leur professeur Nicolae Mandea. Leurs textes sont engagés, tournés vers le social et les problèmes du quotidien. Ils parlent d’un pays en marche, douloureuse, certes, mais en marche.
Quel rôle joue le théâtre dans le paysage culturel roumain ?
K. D. : Le théâtre en Roumanie a une grande tradition et une grande école. C’est un domaine de la culture roumaine en véritable ébullition. Pendant le communisme, le théâtre a été la forme d’expression artistique la plus contestataire, une véritable soupape contre l’oppression politique. Après la révolution, il est resté un miroir fidèle de la transformation du pays, le premier observateur et dénonciateur des phénomènes de transition. Aujourd’hui, ce qui intéresse les dramaturges, les acteurs et les metteurs en scène c’est de pouvoir inscrire le théâtre roumain dans une démarche innovante et créative, tout en questionnant la société dans laquelle il vit et il se vit.
