2 PIANOS / THEATRE DES CHAMPS ELYSEES
Le tandem célèbre n’a jamais quitté la scène depuis les années 70, cultivant sans relâche un art de la fougue et de la mobilité musicale qui, dès 1980, leur valut la reconnaissance et l’adhésion d’un très large public, grâce notamment à une version pour deux pianos de la Rhapsody in Blue dans toutes les mémoires. Leur parcours est marqué par les rencontres et une liberté qui les conduit à la défense d’œuvres de Boulez et Berio, à des expériences avec des artistes de rock ou de jazz, à l’exploration de la musique baroque ou encore à la défense des compositeurs minimalistes américains avant qu’ils ne soient de toutes les programmations. Une carrière d’une richesse magnifique, un peu dédaignée, reconnaissons-le, en France, où l’on ne pardonne jamais très longtemps à un musicien classique de toucher un trop large public. Pour ce récital avenue Montaigne, Katia et Marielle Labèque interprètent les Trois Préludes pour deux pianos (arrangement Irwin Kostal) de Gershwin, les Quatre mouvements pour deux pianos de Philip Glass, dont elles ont été les ambassadrices dans le monde entier, puis elles rencontrent le groupe basque Kalakan (trio de percussions et voix) avant de conclure avec le Boléro dans une version pour deux pianos avec… percussions basques, ce qui n’aurait probablement pas déplu à Ravel, cet autre enfant du pays !
