Né d’une rencontre au festival Métis, ce groupe poursuit « comme une évidence » son aventure dans un grand voyage de l’Iran à l’Inde en poussant même jusqu’aux pays celtiques. On ne présente plus Keyvan Chemirani, cofondateur du Trio Chemirani, mais avant tout grand virtuose du zarb et plus largement grand expert des rythmes persans et méditerranéens. Après bien des aventures musicales, sous son nom ou en collaboration (Kudsi Erguner, Serge Teyssot Gay, Jean-Marie Machado…), cet alchimiste et poète des sons propose un nouveau voyage familial en liberté. « Hâl se situe dans la continuité de mes projets antérieurs : travail autour de la modalité indo-orientale, formation acoustique mettant en valeur l’ornementation, la richesse des carrures rythmiques, aller-retour entre le festif et le méditatif, place pour l’improvisation dans un canevas précis… J’ai choisi de le centrer autour de la voix de ma sœur Maryam Chemirani, dont la générosité, le timbre chaud et le charisme me touchent profondément et méritent à mon sens une exposition pleine et entière. » explique Keyvan Chemirani. Avec aussi le flûtiste Sylvain Barou et Bijan Chemirani au saz.
