COMEDIE MUSICALE / THEATRE DU CHATELET
La Mégère apprivoisée en comédie musicale ? C’est le nouveau pari du Châtelet qui débute l’année avec Kiss me Kate, de Cole Porter, l’auteur des célèbres « My Heart belongs to Daddy » ou « Night and Day ». Dans ce musical, le théâtre dans le théâtre est omniprésent : un couple d’acteurs se dispute en coulisses pendant qu’il joue sur scène la pièce de Shakespeare. Pour corser le tout, des gangsters chargés de récupérer l’argent de leur boss débarquent sur le plateau… Humour, partition enlevée où se succèdent blues, béguine, pastiches de valses viennoises, mais aussi numéros de claquettes et calembours, expliquent le succès immédiat de cette comédie musicale lors de sa création à Broadway en 1948, au point d’avoir tenu l’affiche pendant 1033 représentations, un record à l’époque.
Retour de Lee Blakeley
Pour cette nouvelle production, le metteur en scène Lee Blakeley poursuit sa collaboration avec le Théâtre du Châtelet après Into the Woods et The King and I. Il choisit de situer l’action à la fin des années 40 et privilégie les aspects comiques et sexy de l’œuvre, sans oublier le final spectaculaire. A la tête de l’Orchestre de chambre de Paris, David Charles Abell est au diapason pour faire de cette œuvre un spectacle savoureux et haut en couleurs.
